I'm a little confused by these guys. You see... they're from Chapel Hill, but they don't put me to sleep and there's no scent of ego. Spinnin' my head in a tizzy even more are the loud, pushing guitars and a singer who sounds like he could be in one of those everlasting san francisco bands that's starts with a J and ends with an R, with eight letters in between...but I wouldn't tell him that 'cause he'd probably kick my ass.

Profane Existance

First off this is not some crusty/grindy/death metal band as the name would imply instead they are a trio from North Carolina who play some really good Emo/melodic punk in the vein of Jawbreaker. I can't believe how good this disc is. The band is tight, the vocals melodies are great, and their musicianship is just great. This is their debut release and I hope to see some more releases in the near future.

Chairs Missing

Chapel Hill, NC trio who instead of trying to sound like hometown heroes Superchunk aim more for the melodic pop-punk vein in the style of bands like Jawbreaker, Gunk, early American Standard, Shades Apart, etc. The songs are good but there are two major problems with this band: the production makes every song sound the same and the vocalist has avery limited range so he'll do his best mid-'80's hardcore melodic yell for all the songs and hope for the best. If they'd work on correcting these two faults, we could have a great band here instead of just a merely OK one.

Paranoid

Well here is another band from the Chapel Hill , NC area that Superchunk and merge recs. have made so fashionable and famous. These guys are kind of like a raw-er Dave Smally era sounding Dag Nasty. The less than average recording quality kind of adds a cool element to the record. The lyrics are personal with some social commentary on things such as sexism and are very well written. Please check this out, it is really cool.

Dumpster Dive

Old punk style not really too fast. melodic Emocorish a stripped down Fugazi. The Ian influence more noticeable in the vocals. Gallant effort 3 nice guys. A little like Black Market Babys
